Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks, is seeking dependable and qualified individuals to fill temporary (6-month) non-civil service Community Aide/Education Assistant positions through MOED’s Hire-Up Program to work at Carrie Murray Nature Center.

IMPORTANT: Applicants must show the minimum requirements listed on their application to be eligible. This is a position of trust. Individuals selected for this position will be required to pass a Federal and State criminal background check and receive clearance from Child Protective Services prior to being appointed.

Position Description

This position will be responsible for performing a variety of duties including, but not limited to: assisting educators with programs both indoors and outdoors, setting up and breaking down learning activities, cleaning and organizing learning spaces, taking photographs and uploading them on the computer, printing out and passing out educational resources for teachers and children, and assisting with classroom management. At Carrie Murray Nature Center, most of our education programs occur outside, in all types of weather. In this position, individuals should be able and willing to accompany programs out in the forested trails surrounding the nature center in Gwynns Falls Leakin Park. Rain gear can be provided if necessary.

Recommended Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: One year of customer service and clerical experience.

Equivalencies: Six months of additional experience can be substituted for one year of High School up to two years only.

Compensation

The salary is $16.00 per hour.
