Position Description

  • Responsible for researching, evaluating, testing, and designing platform configuration models for end-user computers and mobile devices.
  • Assist in designing end-user data management strategy and Microsoft OneDrive optimization, including the development of performance metrics and service levels.
  • Ensure reliable backup and recovery of necessary data.
  • Provide analytical support to the program management team regarding platform engineering capabilities, functions, and solutions.
  • Maintain an awareness of trends within the technology industry.
  • Provide support and maintenance to all physical architectures on all remote locations.
  • Provide network services, desktop services, office print services, and shared services needed to support the city’s agency operations in all remote locations.
  • Assist in assessing the current state of the office services architecture/design.
  • Ensures adequate infrastructure monitoring, reporting, and alerting systems are in place.
  • Identifies the need for new security technology solutions; designs, reviews, and collaborates on deploying new solutions.
  • Research new technology involving computer hardware and software to enhance the security posture.
  • Solution validation and testing, ROI and deployment strategy; Interface with existing and new vendors relevant to desktop technology and security. Apply information and knowledge to an endpoint technology road map.
  • Apply best practices, strategies, methodologies, and approaches to systems administration tasks and complex projects Team Leadership and Coordination
  • Plan and direct the work of subordinate staff.
  • Plan, organize, delegate tasks, and conduct status reporting.
  • Communicate information, prepare and deliver presentations.
  • Develop, mentor, and coach staff.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree.

Equivalencies.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience. If degree is unrelated to IT, then specialty IT experience is required. Advanced technical credentials may be substituted for six months of experience or education. Multiple certifications may receive additional credit towards education/experience.

Skills Requirements:

  • One year of related specialty IT experience (for example, but not limited to: system engineering, network engineering, information security, application programming, systems design, hierarchical/relational database management, GIS experience, custom report writing, or developing and supporting cloud-based software integrations).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous IT work lead experience is preferred.
  • Previous IT experience in government is preferred.
