Hospital security officers should be physically fit, as they often need to stand or walk for long periods of time and may need to lift objects up to 80 lbs. They should also be able to empathize with patients and visitors and communicate effectively with other hospital departments.

Hospital security officer's job is to keep patients, staff, and visitors safe and secure in a hospital setting. Their responsibilities include:

  • Patrol the hospital and surrounding areas to prevent unauthorized entry and detect unsafe conditions.
  • Monitor surveillance systems and hospital equipment.
  • Control access to the hospital to ensure only authorized people are allowed.
  • Respond to security incidents and emergencies.
  • Assist with evacuations during emergencies.
  • Administer first aid or CPR in emergency situations.
  • Report security-related information to the security control center and manager
  • Escort people to ensure their safety and security.
  • Fill out daily activity reports and incident reports.
